Auto-magically created image fragmentation using Processing. Visual exploration of the content collision experienced in accessing digital content.
This research presented the opportunity to explore image fragmentation based on dynamic content. Image content was pulled from servers using reference URLs. This data was assembled and placed on a grid pattern. Image scale or crop was not pre-determined, leaving the image content to be manipulated based on their individual scale. The resulting collisions created a sense of composition and presented a unique composition with each data set. The images were pulled from the top 20 news sources to visualize the fragmented way in which we consume and connect with online media. This technique and methodology served as a base for compositions within a larger piece entitled the “Whole Other” as part of Assemblage of Meaning.
